Notes from the designer:

I’ll never forget my first pair of Doc Martins. Bought them second-hand, in burgundy, and when I laced up the seemingly endless eyelets on these tall bad boys, I felt good. Perhaps my “London Calling” t-shirt also contributed, having always been one influenced by music. I traveled through small European towns and then to London, looking for traces of the Sex Pistols and The Clash, trying to absorb it all. The Bynum is a confluence of my love for punk rock and my equal affection for military boots. Like those first pair of one-of-a-kind Docs, these are meant to be worn and wandered in - timeless Americana with an unyielding, rebel edge. Sure, I had to grow up eventually, but I won’t ever give up that thing, that optimistic spirit, that led me through the streets of London back in the day.

The Namesake

Dear friends of Joshua and his wife Sarah, the Bynums are a family that is not only adventurous, but as hard working and servant hearted as they come. Years ago, Jayme took a wrong turn at the Rowing Dock on Lady Bird Lake and asked a guy for directions. Joey Bynum was that guy. Flash forward, they got married a few years later and then moved to Bucharest, Romania. They returned to Austin with their third baby on the way, where Jayme started a Dog School in Austin and Joey received his MBA at Acton. They decided to open Acton Academy West Austin together, an alternative school for ages K-12 in West Lake. Today, Jayme runs the school and Joey is the middle school guide and in charge of Curriculum Design.
