What's In A Name
The Xander is named after Death & Co's Alexander Day, most famous for creating some of the world's best watering holes and being a multiple book author and James Beard award winner. Just about everything he touches inspires us, and he also just happens to be the younger and more talented brother of our CEO. Rarely behind the bar anymore, you can be assured that he's always working on the next location, helping mentor up and coming bartendars and small business owners, or sipping on a simple whiskey at his house in Maine.

United StatesStyling and Profiling - great shoe but has it's purpose
Xander - Blue Size 11-D. Sized like a tennis shoe. Since the blue version is no longer available, I'll add my review here. Xander was my first pair of Helm, and while not a boot, it's definitely a fantastic casual leather shoe! It's also my favorite and go-to shoe in my closet at this point. This shoe is really multipurpose because of it's classy-casual look, however it is not an everything shoe. It does great for a night out, a day out and around or even a day in the office when you've got semi-casual / casual attire. It looks fantastic on jeans but can work with other pants where you're dressing up or dressing down. The insoles are a bit flat and I'd echo what others mentioned about the lack of arch support. This can mean that a long day or lots of walking can run your feet a little rough in these by the end. This probably isn't the best choice for that as compared to other sneakers. However the shoes do seem to rebound well after a day of heavy use. They are also run a bit stiff so they seem to require a bit of break-in as compared to most sneakers, but for the quality and look I feel it's worth it!

I don't consider these boots but rather a high end casual leather shoe. They fit great but feel a bit flat footed. Little if any arch support which i would have wanted since i wear these for hours (all day) at a time.

These are beautifully made shoes. Strong and high quality. They will take a couple of wearings to break in, but that is more a testament to the quality and durability that I hope to find. Very impressed.
