EAT | HEN OF THE WOOD

With its original location still open in Waterbury, Hen of the Wood in Burlington, Vermont is one of our favorite spots to go for a special occasion or intimate dinner with friends. Their menu features fresh dishes made with local products from Vermont ranchers, bakers, and crafters. A perfect place to order a wide range of plates to share, the menu changes daily so you’re guaranteed to be digging into something new and amazing every time.

READ | THE NASTY BITS

Broken down into sections based on flavors (Salty, Sweet, Bitter, Sour), The Nasty Bits is a book by the late Anthony Bourdain that we wish we had read sooner. While Kitchen Confidential still remains one of our favorite books to reread, this takes his captivating style of writing, combines it with the world travel of his later career, and mixes in his fascination with each culture and their relationship with food. This is definitely a book that we’ll be revisiting again and again.

WATCH | I JUST KILLED MY DAD

At first what appears to be a murder in cold blood quickly unfolds to be a story about kidnapping, control, and years of lies. I Just Killed My Dad is a limited series on Netflix , with only three episodes that you can finish in just one sitting. (Yes, we’re speaking from experience.) If you’re a fan of true crime, mystery, or just want a fascinating and quick watch, this is one for you.

TREAT | BLUE LACY DOG MENU

If you show up without a four-legged friend, you won’t be disappointed with anything on the menu. That said, Blue Lacy has a menu just for the dogs that we couldn’t ignore. It features everything from beef or chicken, dog friendly “beer“, and doggy dessert. Enjoy your Avocado Bruschetta or Hippie Cowboy Hash alongside your best friend at this incredibly dog friendly spot.
