FOLLOW | MATT MAUST

After studying painting and design, Matt Maust worked as a t-shirt designer and musician. He produced hundreds of drawings, collages, paintings, and photographs that would serve as the aesthetic foundation and brand direction for his fashion project £UV, and he quickly became a favorite of young designers and L.A. bands. He is an avid collector of vintage advertising, menus, postcards and photographs, and he re-configures or re-constructs these images and texts in his own design. In the oeuvre of Joseph Beuys or Dieter Roth, Maust’s obsessive creative energy has resulted in innumerable artist’s books, editions, paintings, collages, sculptures, videos, and endless drawings and photographs - many critiquing, commenting, or acknowledging contemporary culture. We’re big fans!

MARVEL | THE FASTEST CARS OF THE LAST DECADE

Look at these body styles and listen to these engines! The power, internal combustion, speeds (200 MPH+ easy) and 0-60 abilities (under 3 seconds) have become quite absurd over the last 10 years. A Bugatti that goes over 300 MPH, a Venom altered by Texas-based Hennessey into the momentum of another realm - it’s all here. The designs of these cars themselves are worth the viewing alone, so be sure to watch the available videos via the links, and turn the sound up. Exciting is an understatement.

RIDE | THE DENTON MOTO COLLECTIVE

If you ever find yourself in Denton, Texas, do not miss a visit to Denton Moto. An awesome team with amazing skills, they put their sweat into refurbishing and giving a new life to choice vintage motorcycles. Denton also happens to contain an unbelievable amount of artistry and creative prowess that has helped fuel their fire, and they’ve tapped into some of those sources of inspiration to become part of what they call, “the collective.” Their website isn’t updated as often as their Instagram, so we suggest getting your taste there. Ride on, brothers!

LISTEN | JORDAN MOSER

Driving on an open road between here and anywhere, you’ll need to have Jordan Moser playing. Sunrise or sunset, his quiet melodies, soft vocals and strong lyrics are in line with the best of his genre, often labeled, “Folk Country.” We think it’s more than that. Secret Meeting said it best - "Moser reveals himself as a contemplative, wandering soul, soaked in an age old cynicism and plainspoken wisdom." Moser was a professional ballet dancer in NYC before the muse of music grabbed his soul, brought him to Austin, and carried him into what is now his art of choice. We have to say, we’re sure glad it did because it’s all so wonderful. We’re in love with his latest album, Long Night, and definitely suggest picking it up.

WATCH | THE INVENTOR: OUT FOR BLOOD IN SILICON VALLEY

In a past Saturday Six we featured the book, Bad Blood, upon which this series is based. You’ve most likely heard of the the rise and fall of Theranos, the one-time multibillion-dollar healthcare company founded by Elizabeth Holmes, aka “the next Steve Jobs.” But the company was a farce, and it’s revolutionary product set to change the medical industry wasn’t even real. So crazy! Filmed and directed by Academy Award-winning documentarian Alex Gibney, this is just as chilling and thrilling as the book itself. Rumor has it a feature film might be in the works, and we can’t wait.
