If you’re in Austin, then it’s time for you to head to the Howler Brothers warehouse as they purge and clear the shelves of the samples, one-offs and rarities. Today, February 2nd, is your chance to get one-of-a-kind HB items in previously unreleased patterns & colors, plus overstock items from past seasons. They’ll have the Rosarito Taco Truck there with food for purchase + free beer and water.

Details: 9am-4pm, 400 Industrial Blvd, Austin, TX 78745.

The bio reads, “It's just history. The good, the bad and the ugly.” As much as we agree with them, there is definitely so much more that demands your attention. This account is loaded with fascinating photos from history - the 1800’s to the 1980’s - with some of our favorites being the notorious gangsters, intriguing inventions and sometimes shocking medical procedures. This expansive spectrum of visual content definitely tells stories you’ll most likely never see compiled in another feed. Strange and fascinating - the same account also shares History in Vids which is simply put, “Short but amazing videos from history.” Dang, if high school history class would only have been this cool...

The Scholz Garten is a hidden gem in downtown Austin that’s been slingin’ German Bier & Texas Food since 1866. We’ve been there for lunch and we’ve been there for drinks and it’s excellent for both. The back porch and patio garden area is grand and inside there’s a full bar, featuring handmade cocktails, whiskey, cold beer, wurst, schnitzel, pretzels, wings & burgers. As if that’s not enough, they do damn good TX BBQ catering and can host events too - komm essen und trinken!

Broome St. General & Company is “A Luxury Convenience Shop for you, your home and your family inspired by NYC. Located in LA. Curated around the world.” BSG offers just about anything and everything you’d need to make your world go ‘round. Man, Woman, Beauty & Wellness, Gifts, Home, Kitchen, Baby & Child, Office, Accessories, Gadgets...ok, we’ll stop there. You get the point. If you’re around or near Silver Lake then go check them out and have a bev in their cafe’. If you’re not, then hit their website because it’ll give you a taste of how they really do trot the globe and find all the cool stuff so you don’t have to.

Bridge & Burn is one of our favorite stores and they put together these sweet music mixes that we always dig on. This one in particular is ideal for the feelings of the beginnings of 2019 and also a sublime accompaniment for working. Cinematic tunes that straddle the line between classical and electronic, with arrtists like Nils Frahm, Max Richter, Agnes Obel, and Dustin O’Halloran. This mix creates the perfect music for introspection.

A designer at The Decoder Ring, founder of OK Studio, Creative Director at HEYDAY and an independent graphic designer...Erick Montes is a busy guy here in Austin, TX. We feel lucky to have snagged him for a night as part of our Artist Series. Yup, HELM is having a party and if you've ever been to one, you know that means art, drinks, friends, music, prizes and just one heck of a get-together of the local Austin community.

If you're in town, come out for a night of screen printing, drink toasting, prize winning fun and meet Erick Montes - the guy behind the designs for the night. Click the button down there to RSVP and enter to win one of three prizes we'll be giving away, and we'll see you there!
