Although we hope to someday see it in person, the Aurora Borealis is a light show unlike any other and is even stunning when viewed virtually. Thanks to Lights Over Lapland, we've been able to watch the northern lights from home, along with some of their other tours (including the Ice Hotel and Sled Dog excursions). Although they suggest grabbing a Virtual Reality headset, all of their videos are interactive no matter how you watch it, allowing you to turn, look up, and view the Aurora from every angle. Stunning and surreal, if watching it through a computer screen looks this good, we can't wait to someday see it for ourselves.
EAT | Intero
This Austin-based, husband-and-wife owned, farm-to-table Italian fare gives a touch of innovation to familiar recipes. For the upcoming holiday, Intero is offering pre-order on their delicious dinner options so that you can kick back and relax this season and let them help with the food. Everything they make is exquisite, so the hardest part might be deciding what to order. Choose between a leg of lamb or a slow roasted porchetta, along with your choice of sides. Oh, and don't forget the dessert. Well known for their handcrafted Italian confections, their holiday meals come with an assortment of their artisan chocolates, so you can end the night on a sweet note.
READ | Hanukkah in Alaska
Written by Barbara Brown, Hanukkah in Alaska is a children's book that tells the story of winter in the farthest corner of the United States. This video version is read by Molly Ephraim, and is brought to life through charming illustrations depicting freezing cold, dark winters that are graced by wild moose and northern lights. A quick but adorable read, it's perfect for the holiday season, a night in with some cocoa, and might even inspire you to cook up some latkes with the kids.
WATCH | The Holiday Movies That Made Us
We love a peek behind the scenes of some of our favorite movies, and the Movies That Made Us series on Netflix has been a great way to indulge ourselves. They recently released a holiday version that dives deeper into Elf and Nightmare Before Christmas with interviews, secrets behind the effects, and the vision that made these classics possible. If you're like us and love to know all the details behind how something was made, we suggest popping some popcorn and cozying up in front of this one.
Created by two friends with a passion for good food and great company, The Modern Proper is a place for people to come together and share recipes, be inspired, or just be part of a food community. One of our favorite additions to their recipe lineup is their Festive Holiday Drinks section, perfect for preparing at home. From an easy-to-make Mulled Wine to a light and bubbly Grapefruit Cardamom Gin Fizz to a festive Holiday Sangria, you're guaranteed to find a drink that is as enticing to look at as it is to sip on.
SUPPORT | A Christmas Story Virtual Run
Whether you usually do a charity run on Christmas or you're looking for a new way to spend the holiday this year, A Christmas Story Virtual Run (or walk) is a great way to achieve this and support a great cause. You pick the place to complete your run - on a trail, with the dog, even on a treadmill counts! Register and complete it before January 31st, and you'll receive a run kit, a medal, and can even log your results to see where you land on the leaderboard. Proceeds will support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, allowing you to be part of finding cures and giving families a better and healthier holiday together.
