The Story Behind the HELM Lasts

The Story Behind the HELM Lasts

Lasted for the long haul.

Our mission is timeless. Each pair of HELM is handcrafted to stand the test of time, and we’ve been at it for 10 years. We’re proud of our heritage. One of the defining factors of each pair we design is the last it’s built on - the cast that gives each style it’s distinct and differing toe shape. Since we build boots we want to take on the road, our lasts are inspired by this. Named after cities where our founder, Joshua, lived, each version has a unique story to tell.

323 Americana

Classic and well-rounded, the 323’s Americana profile features a rounded toe box and draws its name from the Hollywood, CA area code. Inspired by the nostalgia of American-made footwear from the 1950’s, this classic design is timeless and tough. The 323 shape features more height and width around the toe, making it a perfect fit for those with wider feet. Its aesthetic is rich in history and makes us want to listen to vinyl and read Kerouac.

415 Modern

Sharp and clean cut, the 415’s name is derived from San Francisco’s area code, and its sophisticated, modern style pays homage to the city’s forward-driven ethos. All HELM boots are Blake Rapid Stitch construction, a welt technique best known for streamlined Italian footwear. The 415, with its tapered toe and sleek cut, pairs beautifully with a Blake Rapid stitch welt. This refined cut is refined and polished to a T.

405 Outlaw

Rugged and handsome, our 405 last is king of the road. This area code belongs to Oklahoma City, the hometown of our founder. The enduring and resilient 405 profile gives our modernized Chelsea boot styles a confident, definitive edge. This last features a rounded toe box shape and tailored arch,  resulting in an effortlessly tailored fit that’s ready to venture out and kick at the dust.
